My husband and I really love to take staycations and try to squeeze as much as we can into a weekend. There is a lot of ground to cover here in Kansas, most of which is empty fields. What that means is to get anywhere we have to drive through a whole lot of nothing, which we love. The main problem we have is worrying about what to do should we break down or need emergency assistance.
The perfect solution for us is the Spare One Emergency Mobile Phone. There are so many things that make this a unique and truly must have item! The first thing you will notice is that there is no screen. In it’s place is a see through window which reveals my favorite feature…
It is powered by a regular AA battery. The battery it comes with will last you 15 years and then you can replace with any AA battery. I sure wish more electronics would realize the ease of using regular AA batteries over all of the odd sizes that require special chargers or a trip to a watch store to locate.
It has ten hours of talk time, which is more than you should need to alert someone of a need for assistance. There is a red emergency button that will contact the local emergency services. If you are just using it for the emergency call button then you don’t need to install a sim card, but to dial individual numbers you will need to install one which is really easy.
In addition to calling for help it also has a panic alarm and up to 24 hours of torch light. And one feature that I think is really neat is the GEO location service. They have a wonderful easy to use online interface that you can use to locate and follow your Spare One! Plus while you are online you can program up to 9 numbers.
The phone even comes in a waterproof pouch, which makes it perfect if you are out on a great adventure that might involve water. I love those types of adventures. And if you are adventuring further away the phone will work on North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean!
If you want a stocking stuffer that will be as useful as it is unique then head over to the Spare One website and check out the model and services they offer. You can also connect with them on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on new features and services.
Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
