Murder, She Wrote Death of a Blue Blood by Jessica Fletcher & Donald Bain

I have been a long time fan of the television series Murder She Wrote. I often sit all afternoon, crocheting and watching Jessica solve mysteries. I am also a long time fan of the books and was so happy to see a new one in my reading stack this month, Death of a Blue Blood by Jessica Fletcher & Donald Bain.

From the back of the book:

In the latest mystery in the USA Today bestselling series, Jessica Fletcher rings in the New Year with British aristocracy, but someone’s about to end the life of the party....

Jessica Fletcher and her friend Scotland Yard detective inspector George Sutherland are invited to attend a New Year’s Eve Ball at Castorbrook Castle, thanks to her British publisher. Shortly after arriving in the idyllic English countryside, Jessica discovers the body of a lady’s maid in the garden.

While their host, Lord Norrance, his family, and party guests squabble over the tragic death in a perfectly mannered, thoroughly British style, family relations are strained as old wounds are reopened and cutting remarks are freely handed out.

As midnight beckons at the ball, but the merriment crashes to a halt when Norrance falls ill and dies, apparently poisoned—and the number of suspects with a grudge against the lord of the manor sprouts like English ivy. Now it’s up to Jessica and George to find the killer—or killers—before another corpse welcomes in the New Year...

My thoughts:

I loved the setting of this and the endearing, as well as vicious, characters. There were plenty of suspects and as usual Jessica digs round and gets to the truth. I think readers will easily fall into the charm of this book, just like all of the rest in the series.

Reading Jessica is always like visiting with an old friend. She was just as smart and inquisitive as always. This mystery was solvable and left me feeling satisfied, yet ready for the next installment. There was some intersecting character deepening and development of a relationship that I also really enjoyed.

Take some time to browse the other great mysteries available from Berkley Prime Crime. While you are there, you can sign up for the newsletter so you never miss a new release. I must warn you though, after browsing my wish list is longer than I could probably read. You can also connect with them on Twitter where you can happen across a fun giveaway as well.

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
