Ghost in the Wind (A Haunted Guesthouse Mystery #7) by E.J. Copperman

Some topics will always draw my eye and ghosts are one of those topics. Combine that with a good cozy mystery and I have a read that is all win for me. I truly have to wonder how I missed the first six parts in the Haunted Guesthouse Mystery series by E.J. Copperman. Even so, I am thrilled to have jumped in at part seven, Ghost in the wind.

From the back of the book:

Murder and mystery on the Jersey Shore from the national bestselling author of Inspector Specter…

Never meet your heroes—especially when they're dead…

Guesthouse owner, single mother, and reluctant ghost whisperer Alison Kerby is about to sit down to movie night with her family and friends when she’s struck speechless. Floating before her is the ghost of her musical idol, 1960s English rock star Vance McTiernan. He’s in desperate need of help from Alison and her resident ghostly gumshoe, Paul Harrison.

Reports claim that four months ago, Vance’s daughter died from a drug overdose. Vance, however, thinks she was murdered. While Alison agrees to help, Paul is suspicious of Vance’s motives. But after the body of the alleged killer is found in the movie room, Alison and Paul must act quickly before someone else finds a stairway to heaven…

My thoughts:

I already mentioned the theme was right up my alley. The setting was adorable: a haunted guesthouse! That is something I would do and I instantly felt a bond with Alison. She sure has her hands full and then she is asked to help find the truth about the murder. I liked that she needed help and didn't just know the answer or always get it right. I think that adds a level of realism to the story.

Speaking of added levels, there was also a minor side mystery as well of a ghostly nature. There are a lot of characters in complex relationships, and though I was able to follow along, I am curious to see how they all ended up as there were in this part. The mystery unfolded at a relaxed pace and made for a mellow read.

I am looking forward to the next part as well as past parts. I do hope you will join me in reading this series.
