The theme this month was Zoo Adventures. Since my daughter loves books the first thing she pulled out was How Do Lions Say I Love You? This book is adorable! It goes through different animals and explains how they show their families they love them. It was exceptionally cute and my daughter really enjoyed reading it with me. The next thing we played with was Jungle Pals Lion Stacking Puzzle. My daughter really enjoys puzzle, sorting, and stacking type games so this was right up her alley. With a little direction, she was able to build the lion which gave her a huge sense of accomplishment. This has become a household favorite.
This next toy was exceptionally cool. The Serpentine of Numbers: Zoo blocks are made in Germany. I really love that the toys you receive are unique so you won't end up with any duplicates. My husband, being born in Germany, was exceptionally fond of this one. As a previously mentioned, Isabella loves sorting her toys. I actually think she may have acquired some of my OCD. Either way, she played with these for a long while. Aligning them by numbers, scrambling them up, and then aligning them by animals. There are endless ways these can be arranged and Isabella is well on her way to conquer them all.
The last toy in the box was something I have never seen before. They were flash cards with realistic pictures of different animals. As well as having the pictures, each card had a section of the animal that was textured. An elephant is leathery, a monkey is furry, and a fish is shiny. I really like that I can not only teach Isabella different animals with realistic pictures but I can also use different textures to reinforce this learning and keep her engaged. I can see these being a staple in our house for a while since Isabella has a younger brother.
