Kit-Cat Clocks

The first thing I did when I saw the Kit-Cat face on the box was smile! It’s just such a happy iconic face. I remember it well from my childhood. My granny had one of these clocks in her antique shop, though I imagine it was a earlier model than this one.

This box made me smile!

I am obviously not the only one who thinks that the Kit-Cat Clock is something pretty special because they have been bringing smiles to faces since the 1930’s! They are celebrating their 80th anniversary, which is some feat, and I wish them a most joyous 80th and many more to come.

Some of the features that make it really special are the rolling eyes, this is such a neat feature that has always mesmerized me. The tale ticks back and forth as if wagging playfully. These two aspects really make this clock an active part of whichever room you choose to hang it - and for me it had to be in the kitchen.

Isn't he adorable!!

It is super easy to get it set up. You just pop off the back cover and insert batteries, I love that it takes regular C batteries and you don’t need to run out and find something special. Then you remove a small piece of tape, snap the back on, and slip the tail into place. You will have it up and wagging in no time, even if you have little ones tugging impatiently at you.

Easy Battery Installation

It keeps perfect time for me and it is surprisingly quiet. I really only notice it when I am alone sneaking into the kitchen for a late night snack. I guess Kit-Cat wants to gently remind me I don’t need those cookie at that hour. Even then it brings a smile to my face.

What I really love is that it is made in America. Not only is made in America, they have gone to some effort to make sure it has stayed that way! In the late 1980′s, due to relocating companies, Kit-Cat didn’t have a US motor supplier. There just wasn’t a battery motor powerful enough to move Kit-Cat’s “one-second” animation. They had to develop a new battery technology in order to keep the made in America legacy alive. I just love that.

Just look at that smile! It's infectious.

I’m so pleased to have a part of American history greeting me with his warm smile, playful eyes, and wagging tail every time I walk in my kitchen. I would venture to guess he brings out the same nostalgic sense of childhood in many people - perhaps some one on your holiday gift list this year?

Please take a moment and browse around the Kit-Cat Clock website they have such a nice variety of colors and styles you are sure to find something you love!
