There is something magical about a deep dark roast on a cold grey morning. It really takes me to a warm wonderful state of mind. Ponderosa Roasting Coffee Company offers a wide variety of some very special coffee blends.
The first thing that really struck me was that they offer coffee for causes. I really love that idea. Not only do you get fantastic coffee but you get to help some wonderful causes like: the Pretty In Pink Foundation, the MHDSA fundraiser "Stepping Up for Down Syndrome," Ex4Vets, Real Men Fight Like Girls, and Team In Training. These are all wonderful causes that you can read more about HERE.
The blend of causes coffee I tried was the Champion Blend. It is a mix of Sumatra roasted both medium and dark (black and tan). It has a lovely deep flavor that is perfect when you have the time to sip and savor your coffee - which I do. Not only will you get that warm feeling from drinking such a rich blend but you can also feel good knowing that it gives to the cause of the Pretty In Pink Foundation, whose mission is to provide financial assistance to uninsured, and underinsured breast cancer patients with quality, life-saving medical treatment, regardless of their ability to pay. You can find out more about the Pretty In Pink Foundation HERE.
Next I tried the organic Nicaraguan blend, which was awesome. This blend has a rich flavor that is chocolatey with a subtle hint of apricot. It is so smooth and easy to sip. It really went perfectly with my long mornings spent on the porch while I slowly wake up. I love a smooth rich coffee like this for weekends when you really can relax and enjoy the flavors.
This blend also has a wonderful story. It comes from The Soppexcca Union of Farm Cooperatives, which consists of 180 women who contribute coffee to the Las Hermanas specialty lots. This co-op only allows women to participate, and because of this co-op, more than 20 women have been able to receive loans to purchase land and invest in their own farms, rather than just being a landless laborer. I just love that!
Those are just two of the fantastic coffee blends the Ponderosa Roasting Coffee Company offers. Please take some to browse their SITE and see the fantastic varieties and their wonderful stories.
