Drop In With a Dropcam

To start with you plug the camera into your computer with the USB and follow the easy onscreen instructions. Next you put the camera where you want, and use the USB and plug to power it. That is really it, in less than a five minutes I was up and running. 

There are three options for service: Dropcam Live is the free service which comes with your camera and allows you unlimited live streaming. It has motion and sound detection and will send you email and smart phone alerts.  Dropcam DVR allows you to access footage and make clips of the past 7 or 30 days depending on which service you opt for. 

I really love that it has bank-level security so you know your footage isn't being seen by anyone you haven’t granted permissions too. With the DVR service I love that you can go back and see what happened when you weren't looking. Plus if you see something really cute you can make a clip and share it straight to Facebook or Youtube if you like! 

You don’t even have to be pinned down to watch the live feed you can view it remotely from your iPad, iPhone or Android device. One thing you can really have some fun with is the two-way audio because it has a built in speaker and microphone. You can also schedule when you would like it to record and when things go dark, it has night vision! How cool is that? I even got activity alerts when there was motion, sound or when the camera was turned off. 

Aside from security this would make a great monitor for little ones and a way to see what happens in the world of your pets when you aren't home! The possibilities are really endless with something so flexible and easy to move from place to place. The very first thing I learned is why it takes me so long to write a blog post. Though I must admit I don’t mind the doggy distractions.
