I really love making afghans! I am currently making four… yes four, I get bored doing the same things so I need several projects to keep it interesting. One thing I have noticed about blankets and afghans is that they don’t really look finished without some sort of border - it just seems to pull them together and give them a more polished look.
Now being new to crochet I don’t have borders just flying around in my head and I am not yet sure enough of my skills to just freestyle one - not yet. I needed some sort of guide, so I turned to my go to shop for pattern books, Leisure Arts. Of course they had just what I needed, and I also added several more titles to my ever growing wish list.
50 Crocheted Afghan Borders by Jean Leinhauser gives you so many lovely styles to choose from which can be added to just about any afghan, whether it's knitted or crocheted. There is sure a huge variety, some of the borders are wide and ruffled, some are narrow and tailored. Plus I loved that there are both feminine and more masculine styles too.
The book is 32 pages and has clear easy to follow instructions even for beginners, as well as illustrations so you get a really good idea of what the pattern looks like to help you pick the perfect one for your next project.
Make sure you also connect with Leisure Arts on Facebook and Twitter so that you never miss a special or new pattern! Also if you sign up for their knitting or crochet newsletters, you get a free pattern on Fridays!
