Sometimes when I am searching for the perfect pattern and can’t find it, I wonder just how hard it would be to make my own. The answer can be easy if you have a few of the stitch books available at Leisure Arts. Over the next several weeks I will be talking about many of the great books that, if added to your library, will give you all the things you need in order to design your own beautiful patterns.
The first book I want to talk to you about is called 50 Fabulous Crochet Squares. The squares in this book can be used to make all sorts of patterns like purses, scarves, afghans and even smaller projects like headbands and hats. You are really only limited by your imagination and yarn stash.
All of the patterns have super easy to follow instructions and pictures so you can see exactly what you are making. Plus, once you have worked several of the squares you get a real feel for how you turn circular motifs into squares and then you can really have some serious fun. I just love playing with ideas and imagining how different squares might look together.
You can take one of the textured squares like Ruffle-Go-Round use just one color and make a blanket that has a truly spectacular vintage look. Or, there is a lovely holiday wreath square that you can use to make runners or even embellish a stocking. My little heart gets so happy with the possibilities!
I really love that each square gives a measurement too so if you are not comfortable with increasing or decreasing the pattern on your own you can still figure out which ones are the same size to mix and match. What do you like to make with square motifs? My next square is a lovely blanket for my mother.
Please come back next week to see another awesome book that every creative crocheter needs in their stitch library. No matter what type of craft or pattern you are looking for, take some time to browse Leisure Arts' great selection and make sure you also connect with Leisure Arts on Facebook and Twitter so that you never miss a special or new pattern! Also, if you sign up for their knitting or crochet newsletters, you get a free pattern on Fridays!
Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
