63 Cable Stitches to Crochet from Leisure Arts

If you have been following my weekly craft posts you know we have been talking about building your crochet stitch library. My favorite craft book site, Leisure Arts, has so many awesome stitch guides to pick from and this week we are going to look at one for making cables. Do you love the look of cabled sweaters? Have you ever looked at a cabled afghan and thought, wow that looks like a treasured heirloom? I know when I see cables I am always blown away. So, naturally, I wanted to learn how to make them.

63 Cable Stitches to Crochet is filled with 63 awesome cable patterns. The cable patterns are given so that you can create the blocks needed to make your very own heirloom afghan, as well as pillow! Have a look at the cover, isn't that just beautiful? All the information you need to recreate that beauty is found in this awesome book.

As with all of the pattern books I have from Leisure Arts the instructions are super clear and easy to follow, and there are pictures, as well as basic instructions. Plus once you get a grasp of the patterns you can use the cable stitches to make your own custom designs for afghans or even accessories. I have started making my daughter a beautiful cabled square afghan that is so beautifully textured, if I do say so myself.

As you play with the patterns you can also start to see how to use these cables to make some super creative designs. I am trying to work out how to use the cables to make an owl pattern for a hat - I am very close and will let you know when I am successful with that, as well as when I complete the cabled blanket.

No matter what type of craft or pattern you are looking for, take some time to browse Leisure Arts' great selection and make sure you also connect with Leisure Arts on Facebook and Twitter so that you never miss a special or new pattern! Also, if you sign up for their knitting or crochet newsletters, you get a free pattern on Fridays!

Please come back next week to see another awesome book that every creative crocheter needs in their library.

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
