Over the holidays I made my very first crochet toys. I found it to be very rewarding to make these fun little toys, which work up super fast. I like the idea of the kids playing with a stuffed toy that I made. It is a different sort of crochet that, while it uses the same stitches, has a different flow all together.
Since I had so much I wanted to expand my patterns in this area and found a great book at Leisure Arts. A Zoo For You has eleven great animal patterns for you to create a little soft zoo for the children in your life. These are absolutely adorable, seriously.
I have started the hippo because hippos are too cool and the pattern is so cute. These patterns are written to use #4 yarn which is awesome because that is what I have hanging around in the greatest amount. They are also all easy to do and use very basic stitches so even beginners can make these little darlings.
The alligator is also on my make list since I am from Florida, I really must make him. If I am being honest, I will make them all because I am just a big kid at heart and each time I open this book I fall in love these little guys... Elephant!! And monkey!! I need to get busy crocheting!
Do tell, have you ever made crochet toys? If so I would love to hear about it.
Take some time to browse Leisure Arts' great selection and make sure you also connect with Leisure Arts on Facebook and Twitter so that you never miss a special or new pattern! Also, if you sign up for their knitting or crochet newsletters, you get a free pattern on Fridays!
Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
