Ghost of a Potion by Heather Blake

I know they say you should never judge a book by the cover but I have to admit when I saw the cover for Ghost of a Potion by Beverly Allen I was sold. I mean really, cats, magic and a mask on a swing outside? I am all over that. This is part three in the Magic Potion Mystery series, which I think we all need to catch up on!

From the back of the book:

In the latest from the bestselling author of One Potion in the Grave, it’s Halloween in Hitching Post, Alabama, and potion shop owner Carly Bell Hartwell has an especially spooky customer to handle…

With all the ghosts that haunt her at this time of year, Carly doesn’t exactly rush to celebrate Halloween.  Even a costume ball organized by her boyfriend Dylan's mother, Patricia Davis Jackson, holds little allure.  But to please Dylan, who wants peace between the two women, Carly reluctantly agrees to go.

Gossip around town is that architect Haywood Dodd plans to make a big announcement at the party. But before he can address the crowd, he’s found dead with Patricia standing over him, holding the murder weapon. Anxious to clear Patricia’s name and perhaps broker a truce with her, Carly would love to use her snooping skills to find the real killer. Only she has bigger problems to deal with—ghosts are flocking to her for help, including a very persistent Haywood Dodd…

My thoughts:

As you know from prior posts, I love to read Heather Blake so it should come as no surprise that I am going to tell you I loved this book. I read it in one night, I had to, it was just so much fun to read! The range of emotions that you feel reading this story is pretty impressive. I was tempted to say for a cozy but really it is pretty impressive overall... did I mention I love Heather Blake's writing?

This series has such a fun setting and so many awesome characters that I have enjoyed getting to know. The mystery is paced well and left me guessing right up until the end. I really struggle to convey things properly when I get so excited but if I convey anything to you about this book, I hope that it is that you must read it! You must read the whole series; it is just that awesome.

Take some time to browse the other great mysteries available from Berkley Prime Crime. While you are there, you can sign up for the newsletter so you never miss a new release. I must warn you though, after browsing my wish list is longer than I could probably read. You can also connect with them on Twitter where you can happen across a fun giveaway as well.

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
