Florist Grump by Kate Collins

Ever find a long running series and think, how on earth did I miss this for so long? That is how I felt when I found part seventeen, yes seventeen, in the Flower Shop Mystery series by Kate Collins, Florist Grump. There is a reason this is a best selling series. It's awesome.

From the back of the book:

From the New York Times bestselling author of A Root Awakening, feisty florist Abby Knight is back with another knotty murder to solve in the next Flower Shop Mystery...

Life in Bloom

Stopping to smell the roses should be a must for flower shop owner Abby Knight, but stress has turned her into a major grump. While their house is under construction, Abby and her new husband, Marco, are living with her parents, who are driving her nuts. Not to mention that everyone has babies on the brain, with her cousin Jillian’s bundle of joy popping up in every conversation, and Marco’s mother dropping hints that she expects a new sprout from Abby and her son—as soon as possible!

But things get even thornier after a flashy former banker pushes up daisies. With a beloved window washer the prime suspect in the murder, other New Chapel shop owners rally around Abby and Marco to prove his innocence. With Abby’s energy wilting, she has to be on high alert—or she and Marco may not live to see their new home…

My thoughts:

Wow, this story has so much going on! I was really amazed that I was able to follow along with this being so deep in the series and with all that was happening but I was. Abby is a great leading lady and I liked that she needed the people around her, it makes her, and them, seem more real and easy to relate to. Besides, as I mentioned, there was a lot going on; anyone would need help with all of that.

The mystery had a nice amount of suspects and a great, unfolding pace that had me on the edge of my reading seat as I turned pages late into the night.  I will need to go back to the start because I really want to see how all of these relationships started and what I missed on the whole. I really enjoyed my visit to New Chapel and I think you will too.

Take some time to browse the other great mysteries available from Berkley Prime Crime. While you are there, you can sign up for the newsletter so you never miss a new release. I must warn you though, after browsing my wish list is longer than I could probably read. You can also connect with them on Twitter where can happen across a fun giveaway as well.
