A Whisker of Trouble (Second Chance Cat Mystery #3) by Sofie Ryan

Do you remember Elvis? Elvis the cat that I loved so much, who happened to also be pretty handy at finding and solving mysteries? I am happy to say Elvis is back in A Whisker of Trouble (Second Chance Cat Mystery #3) by Sofie Ryan. I hope you are read up and ready to take another adventure with one of my favorite sleuthing pairs, Sarah and Elvis!

From the back of the book:

The New York Times bestselling author of Buy a Whisker offers another adventure with secondhand shop owner Sarah Grayson and Elvis the rescue cat.

Spring has come to charming North Harbor, Maine, and with the new season comes a new haul for Second Chance, the shop where Sarah Grayson sells lovingly refurbished and repurposed items. Sarah is turning her keen eye to the estate of collector Edison Hall, hoping for fabulous finds for Second Chance—but when her rescue cat Elvis discovers a body in the kitchen, everything goes paws up.

The body belongs to an appraiser who had been hired to check out Edison’s wine collection. When Edison’s sister shows up at Second Chance, she hires Sarah’s friends—the kooky and charismatic trio of ladies who call themselves Charlotte’s Angels and work out of the shop—to solve the murder, Sarah knows she and Elvis are only going to get deeper into the case. But as it becomes a cat and mouse game of lies, cons, cheats, and family squabbles, can Elvis and Sarah claw their way to the truth before the killer slinks away forever?

My thoughts:

I think I mentioned already that I love these characters. I love every little thing about them, especially Elvis. It was fun to get to see the angels again; they are so charming. There is humorous banter between the characters that makes the fact we are dealing with murder, lies, and deceit somehow lighter. The setting is also something special. Second Chance is my type of store and these are my type of people.

I really liked the deeper mystery involving the scam that made this much more involved than the average cozy, and fully engaging. It was an up all night, read in one siting type of story. As things unfolded, I was drawn in deeper and felt a real sense of suspense.

You don't have to read the other parts to enjoy this self contained mystery, but you will want to. I am also excited to say that the back of the book has a teaser from a brand new series coming from Sofie Ryan! Keep your eyes here because you know I will be reading it!

Take some time to browse the other great mysteries available from Berkley Prime Crime. While you are there, you can sign up for the newsletter so you never miss a new release. I must warn you though, after browsing my wish list is longer than I could probably read. You can also connect with them on Twitter where you can happen across a fun giveaway as well.
