Berry the Hatchet (Cranberry Cove #2) by Peg Cochran

I always love revisiting a great cozy series. I was so happy to see Berry the Hatchet (Cranberry Cove #2) by Peg Cochran available in this month's new releases. This series has the most charming setting, a beautiful style, and well done mysteries. You will want to jump in now while it is still such a new series.

From the back of the book:

Cranberry farm owner Monica Albertson is once again bogged down in murder in the second Cranberry Cove mystery from national bestselling author Peg Cochran.

The entire town of Cranberry Cove is popping with excitement. Monica Albertson is baking cranberry goodies by the dozen and shopkeepers are decking out their storefronts for the first annual Winter Walk—an event dreamed up by the mayor to bring visitors to the town during a normally dead time of year.

But it’s the mayor who turns up dead during the grand opening ceremony, his lifeless body making its entrance in a horse-drawn sleigh. Monica’s mother and stepmother quickly become the prime suspects when it’s discovered that the mayor was dating both of them, and to make things worse, her half brother Jeff uncovers a clue buried near one of the bogs on Sassamanash Farm. Now it’s up to Monica to find out who really put the mayor on ice.

My thoughts:

I was so excited to be returning to this series, and boy was it jammed full. Poor Monica, she was so totally bogged down. (haha bogged get it?) Seriously though, in addition to sleuthing, there was Greg, her mother and mother in law, and life! Monica is a joy to spend time with, and I adore Greg, so I was totally drawn into the characters. The setting was fun again, and the food sounded divine. Lucky for us there were recipes in back of the book!

While I started this at the beginning, you can read this stand alone if you wish, but really it is only two in, so I recommend you get know every one. I enjoyed the mystery, and was able to solve it by following the clues in the story. That said, I wasn't positive, but did smile at the conclusion to see I was right. You really should pick this up, it is a beautiful cozy, with great characters, a fun mystery, and a charming setting.

Take some time to browse the other great mysteries available from Berkley Prime Crime. While you are there, you can sign up for the newsletter so you never miss a new release. I must warn you though, after browsing my wish list is longer than I could probably read. You can also connect with them on Twitter where you can happen across a fun giveaway as well.

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
