A Likely Story (Library Lover's Mystery #6) by Jenn McKinlay

Last week saw the paperback release of A Likely Story (Library Lover's Mystery #6) by Jenn McKinlay. I jumped into this series late, and was so happy with it that I went back read not only all the parts to it, but to the other series available from Jenn McKinlay. As you might imagine, I was tickled to read this latest part and devoured it in a night.

From the back of the book:

A new hardcover in the Library Lover's mystery series from the New York Times bestselling author of On Borrowed Time. Small-town librarian Lindsey Norris must solve a murder and a missing person's case involving two reclusive brothers.

NOT HIS BROTHER'S KEEPER

Delivering books to the housebound residents of the Thumb Islands, just a short boat ride from the town of Briar Creek, library director Lindsey Norris has befriended two elderly brothers, Stewart and Peter Rosen. She enjoys visiting them in their treasure-filled, ramshackle Victorian on Star Island until she discovers that Peter has been killed and Stewart is missing. Now she's determined to solve a murder and find Stewart before he suffers his brother's fate.

My thoughts:

Since I went back and got caught up, I can really appreciate all the character nuances and see their growth. That said you may jump into this series at any point. All of the cast are a lot of fun. I even enjoy Ms. Cole. I missed seeing Robbie for most of the book and I'm still on the fence about Sully, since, well, he isn't Robbie.

The mystery was fun, I especially liked the hoarding aspect and the collectors. There was good attention to detail that made it easy to visualize that part of the story. The traps made a interest touch as well.Plus the story added some to the history of the people in the town, or on the islands. I had some of the mystery figured out, but it didn't play exactly as I thought, so I'll say I almost solved it.

In the back of the book there were the usual fun notes, crafts, and delicious recipes, plus a surprise bonus story. I loved the extra peek into what may be coming. Speaking of what may be coming, there was an excerpt of the next part which also just released, this one in hard back, so you can grab that too, after you read and loved this part! I look forward to my next visit with Lindsey.

Take some time to browse the other great mysteries available from Berkley Prime Crime. While you are there, you can sign up for the newsletter so you never miss a new release. I must warn you though, after browsing my wish list is longer than I could probably read. You can also connect with them on Twitter where you can happen across a fun giveaway as well.
