Yonanas Review & Giveaway

There is something extra magical about a creamy bowl of soft serve ice cream - it's magical and sadly a bit decadent when you are trying eat healthier or watch your weight. Wouldn't it be great to get that same creamy goodness and sweet comfort without ruining your diet plans?

The Yonanas frozen treat maker allows you to indulge in a rich creamy frozen treat that is sweet and has the same decadent texture as a soft serve ice cream while getting in a valuable serving of fruit! I was a little skeptical at first. I mean I do like a fruit smoothie now and again but I wasn't sure if the texture of soft serve ice cream from a banana was going to be possible.

So we set out to set up our new wonder machine, which was really easy. A few snaps and twists and everything was in place in under five minutes. It's also just as easy to disassemble when you are done and need to get it clean. You will want to have planned ahead because your bananas need to have been frozen for a day to get the right texture.  That said, once the machine is assembled you are ready to make a fresh sweet frozen treat.

For our first time we wanted to try the original recipes, which is just two frozen bananas - easy. You use the plunger to press the bananas down the chute and onto the blades. The lovely treat comes right out of the front and into your waiting bowl - ready to enjoy.

It has the awesome texture of a fine soft serve ice cream for real! And the taste is that of a rich sweet banana ice cream. I was amazed at how lovely and decadent a banana could be, especially since I didn't throw in any additional ingredients.

Of course that made me wonder just how much more decadent the other recipe suggestion might be. So I had to try the cinnamon cocoa which simply adds 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder and a half teaspoon of cinnamon.  Mix the two together and sprinkle them over the bananas before inserting. A simple addition and a magical result. The possibilities are really endless and the included recipe guide will give you ideas and wonderful ways to try your Yonanas. I think next I will try it with some peanut butter.

Even if you aren't a huge banana fan like myself you can use other soft, non pitted fruits, check the manual for which ones, and fruit combinations to make your own unique frozen treats. There are some no bananas Yonanas recipes included in the recipe book to get you started too.

This fantastic machine is going to be a huge help in keeping my diet on track by allowing to have an indulgence with the taste of ice cream but the calories and nutrition of a serving of fruit. I can also see this being great for parents who are trying to squeeze an extra serving of fruit into their children’s day. If you like the sound of creamy soft serve fruit please browse their sit and read all about this fantastic machine.

I have some great news too! Yonanas has generously offered one lucky My Empty Nest reader the chance to win their very own Yonanas machine!  Please use the rafflecopter below to enter.
