Tortuga

Have you ever been to the Caribbean? I haven't, but I sure have dreamed about being there while sitting on the Florida beaches. Growing up in Florida, I have experienced a lot of Caribbean type things or so I thought. I have seen the lovely gold boxes of Tortuga products in shops in Florida, but I guess my mom thought I was too young for anything with rum.

I’ve just tried Tortuga Caribbean rum cakes, and I am so shocked by how different and utterly fantastic it is compared to other rum cakes that I remember. The first I sampled was the original flavor which had a distinct rum flavor that was so delightful. The cake is moist and absolutely delicious. You can tell it is made with the best ingredients like Tortuga gold rum. I think it is awesome that each cake is hand glazed and then vacuum sealed to lock in the love and flavor!

I also tried the banana flavor rum cake, which is made with the same great care and superb ingredients as their other cakes. I can’t express how unique and delicious this was. The banana added a nice subtle change to the original flavor, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the other flavor varieties.

Tortuga 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee goes perfectly with their rum cakes. It has a unique aroma  and a beautiful smooth rich flavor. I can easily see why it is one of the most sought after coffees in the world. I can slowly sip on a cup and be taken away from this cold Kansas winter right back to my youth and the beach days.
