Mother Tongues Inspired Designs

There are a few things you expect from a good apron. You expect it to be heavy enough that spills won’t leak through. You expect it to be durable enough for frequent washing  If you are like me you also expect it to be fashionable and have pockets to hold your kitchen gadgets or maybe a recipe card, etc.

An apron that meets those requirements is actually pretty easy to find. However if you want an apron that goes beyond, an apron that lifts your spirits and roots you to your connection with this earth and it's peoples you might be hard pressed to find one.  Unless of course you were looking at Mother Tongues.

Mother Tongues uses words to celebrate cultures, peace, respect and a nurturing feeling toward other people and the earth. As someone who has several published books and writes actively for this blog I fully understand and embrace the power of words, which may be be part of why I am so moved and inspired each time I tie on my apron to cook.

The Slow Food Apron Uses words from other cultures to send the message of how intimate meal time is for people and inspire creativity in the kitchen. My husband and I try to travel in our kitchen each week to another place far away just using the food we cook and that makes this apron even more special to us. It has even inspired a few of our country selections.

It is sturdy, machine washable and looks adorable on. I love the three roomy pockets on the front because I never seem to have enough hands or counter space when I create in the kitchen. The neck is a loop that you don't have to tie and the waist ties are long enough to fit most sizes, even plus sizes. It comes in two colors, the blue that I have and also black.

In addition to having beautiful meanings Mother Tongue products are Fair-Trade Certified, printed with water based inks, and use 100% organic cotton. They are also a member of Green America and 1% for the Planet.

Perhaps you are not as avid a cook as I am, but you still would like to feel the connecting power of the beautiful messages. No worries they carry a wonderful line of t-shirts and even offer, socks, a scarf or postcards.  I invite you to take some time and browse around the Mother Tongues selection and see what inspires, or speaks to you.

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
