Juil - Awaken Your Soles

Growing up in Florida I was certainly a barefoot type of child. There is just nothing that compares to feeling the earth under your feet, it just makes you feel alive. When I grew up I lost sight of that connected feeling and hid my poor feet in shoes of varying styles. Of course I always had a deep love for flip-flop type of shoes - isn't it the Florida state shoe? 

Even something as simple as flip-flop can still disconnect you from the earth and that great feeling of balance you get when you are close to nature. Juil gets that and has designed a line of awesome shoes that will help you reconnect without running around barefoot - not that I discourage that, but you can‘t always, especially in the winter! Juil shoes connect you to the earth using copper conduits that are in the soles of each pair of their shoes. 

It was really hard for me to settle on just one pair and when I did it was the Gaia. I picked it because in addition to being adorable and reminding me of Florida, they are also vegan! I think I still might need to grab a pair more suited for winter like the Copenhagen. In addition to those two styles they offer a great range of women’s and men’s sandals.  

You ladies know I love the small touches and I must say the box was really very nice! I loved the little pull tab that looked like one of the copper conduits. I was also very pleasantly surprised to find a very cute yoga bag! I don’t have a proper yoga bag and my mat always looks a mess hanging out of my duffle bag. So as you might imagine that made me very happy!  

Once I saw the shoes I was filled with excitement again. I mean really, we all have our little black dress, but we also really need our little black shoes too! In addition to being adorable these shoes really do energize you. I seriously felt like I did when I kid running around barefoot. Juil is really on to something, helping us look and feel awesome. I am going to wear these everyday!

In case you are wondering, you cannot feel the copper conduits under your feet when you walk. Aside from the energy flow technology, they also have arch support that is subtle and in line with the barefoot movement. The design lets you move naturally and yet maintains a nice snug fit.  I really can’t say enough about just how comfy and invigorating these shoes are.
