Baby's First from Lion Yarn / Free Headband Pattern

Where are my crafters today? Today I want to tell about a cool yarn that I had the chance to work with from Lion Brand. I am sure you recall the past few Lion Brand posts and how much I love the other yarns I had the chance to work with and I enjoyed Baby’s First just as much!

Baby’s First is a 45/cotton 55/acrylic blend that is a bulky #5. It is also machine washable and dryable which is always nice when you are making things for babies. This yarn has a very plush feel that would be perfect for baby clothes, lovies, blankets and even hats for all ages. When I first squished this yarn, yes I am a yarn squisher, it screamed to me about an ear warmer pattern I had been eyeing, and that is what I made first.

It really is so soft and feels so cozy wrapped around my head. I can’t wait for Fall to settle in so I can wear it every day.  After I made the ear warmer, I had a small amount left over so I decided to design a quickie headband for you all, because we can never have to many cute headbands right? And besides I love a project you can work up in less than an hour.

The head band is three rows of SC to decide the chain length I just made a long chain and stretched it around my head until I had a good fit. Then I turned and SC in the second Ch and each chain across. Chain one and turn SC in each for the last two rows. Seam it and you are ready for the flower. I always place the flower over the seam because it hides any seam stuff that might otherwise show. When you attach the flower sew into the center and that will fill in nicely.
FLOWER
ch 5. Sl st into first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: * Ch 7, sl st into the ring; rep from * 5 times. (5 petals started)
Rnd 2: * (sc, hdc, dc, 3 tr, dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-sp*; rep from *

I have found Lion Brand yarn at my shops and if you, like me, don’t have many craft supply options you can visit Lion Brand online and purchase their great yarns online. While you are there look around because they have a lot of great yarn art resources, including some stunning free patterns You can also follow Lion Brand on Facebook and Twitter.

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
