Beginners Guide to Crochet Cables from Leisure Arts is a fabulous resource to help get you started with cables. In it you will find six fabulous projects that will teach you various cable looks. There are easy patterns for beginners and more challenging ones for more advanced crocheters. The projects range from a beautiful Sexton Braid hat to a detailed Aran afghan! And the stitches range from a simple cable to more complex Aran pattern.
I had been asked by my niece to make her a hat with a cabled brim and all she had to go on was a picture so I was super excited when I found this book. I could tell by looking it was a knitted hat that had caught her attention but I know I am challenged when it comes to cabling and knitting. I can do it but it sure takes me a long time. After playing with the patterns inside I was able to make the hat in crochet stitches and with ease.
I think that is probably what I love most about these techniques; the ease. These really look very complicated and always get compliment but I found them super easy to create. The Innisberry Pullover pattern will be my next big project I think.
Another fabulous thing about this book is that there are bonus online tutorials to help you through the parts that might be complicated. I love that because, lets face it, sometimes you just need to see something done in order for it to click- well I know that I do. Tell me, have you made crochet cables before?
Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my reader.
I think the pillow is really pretty and it's great that there are online tutorials available.
