Free Granny Hat Pattern

Well I finally finished the poncho from Simply Crochet #25. I did make mine a bit longer, and I left off the fringe and added a simple SC and CH edge. My first thought was I need a granny hat now with the left over yarn because I simply love these colors. I think the hat came out fab and had to share the pattern with you!

Granny Ridges Hat

H/8 5.0mm
1st color Heather RHSS
2nd color Icelandic RHSS
3rd color Turoqua RHSS
4th color Light Gray RHSS

Rnd 1 With first color make a Magic Circle Chain 2 (counts as DC now and throughout) 2DC, Ch1 (3DC, Ch1) 4 times. SlSt to Ch1 of Beg. 15DC, 5Ch1 spaces.

Rnd 2: SlSt in the next 2DC. SLST in CH space Ch 2, 2DC, Ch1, 3DC, Ch1, in next ch space. (3DC, Ch1, 3DC, Ch1) around. SlSt to top of chain 2. 30DC, 10Ch1 spaces.

Rnd 3 Change to 2nd color by joining with a SLST into any chain 1 space, Ch 2, 2DC, Ch1, 3DC, Ch1, in next ch space. (3DC, Ch1, 3DC, Ch1) around. SlSt to top of chain 2. 60DC, 20Ch1 spaces.

Rnd 4/5 are done in 3rd color, join with SLST in any chain 1 space (Rnd 5 SlSt in the next 2DC. SLST in CH space ) Ch 2, 2DC, Ch1 in next ch space. (3DC, Ch1 in next Ch space) 19 times. SlSt to Ch1 of BegDC. 60DC, 20Ch1.`

Rnd 6 Change to 2nd color by joining with a SLST into any chain 1 space, Ch 2, 2DC, Ch1, 3DC, Ch1, in next ch space. (3DC, Ch1, 3DC, Ch1) around. SlSt to top of chain 2. 60DC, 20Ch1 spaces.

Rnd 7/8 are done in 4rd color, join with SLST in any chain 1 space (Rnd 5 SlSt in the next 2DC. SLST in CH space ) Ch 2, 2DC, Ch1 in next ch space. (3DC, Ch1 in next Ch space) 19 times. SlSt to Ch1 of BegDC. 60DC, 20Ch1.`

Rnd 9 Change to  2nd color repeat Rnd 6
Rnd 10 Change to 1st color repeat Rnd 6
Rnd 11 Change to 3rd color repeat Rnd 6
Rnd 12 Change to 4th color repeat Rnd 6

Rnd 13 Change to  2nd by joining with a SLST into any chain 1 space, Ch 2 DC in every DC and Ch1 space around. SlSt to FL of Ch of Beg CH. 80DC total.

Rnd 14 working in FL of round 13  ONLY SLST in each DC. Please make your stitches loose or the hat will be too tight.

Rnd 15: Working in BL of round 13 ONLY Change to 1st color SC in each stitch SLST in FL of first SC. 

Rnd 16 working in FL of round 15  ONLY SLST in each DC. Please make your stitches loose or the hat will be too tight.

Rnd 17 Working in BL of round 15 ONLY Change to 3rd color SC in each stitch SLST in FL of first SC. 

Rnd 18 working in FL of round 17  ONLY SLST in each DC. Please make your stitches loose or the hat will be too tight.

Rnd 19 Working in BL of round 17 ONLY Change to 4th color SC in each stitch SLST in FL of first SC. 

Rnd 20 working in FL of round 19  ONLY SLST in each DC. Please make your stitches loose or the hat will be too tight.

Rnd 21 Working in BL of round 19 ONLY Change to 2nd color SC in each stitch SLST in FL of first SC. 

Rnd 22 RSC around.
