Spring Poncho

I have so been in love with ponchos lately and wanted one that was lighter and more airy for Spring. This is done in DC and DC with Chains to give the open look. I would consider it a beginner pattern. The hat pattern is a free pattern from Kim Guzman that can be found here

Spring Poncho

Materials:
I Hook
J Hook
Caron Simply Soft Passion 3 skeins
Caron Simply Soft White 1 skeins

PLEASE NOTE this is an untested pattern

Pattern is worked without turning, for the body and border the RS will be facing you for the neck the WS will be facing you. The CH 1 at the start of each row does not count as a stitch.

In Passion with I hook Chain 86 join with slst and be careful not to twist as you work

Row 1: chain 1 DC in next 42, DC chain 1 DC in next, DC in next 42, DC chain 1 DC in next, slst into first DC

Row 2 &3 : Chain 1 DC in same space as join and all to chain space, DC chain 1 DC in space, DC in all to chain space, DC chain 1 DC in chain space, slst into first DC

You will notice now you have two parts that have a bit of a dip where the chain spaces are one will be the front and the other the back, I will refer to them as that for the rest of the pattern.

Row 4: chain 1, DC in same space as join, DC, chain 2, skip 2, repeat to DC just before front chain 2 space, DC in that DC, DC chain 1 DC in chain space, DC in next DC, CH2, skip 2, DC in next two to DC before back chain space, DC in that DC,  DC chain 1 DC in chain space, DC in next DC, CH2 join with slst to first dc

Row 5: sl in next dc, sl into chain2, chain 1 , 2DC in chain space, chain two, 2DC in next ch space, chain 2, repeat to front center, 2DC CH1 2DC in center, CH2, 2DC in chain space, CH 2, repeat to back chain space, 2DC CH1 2DC in back center, CH2, 2DC in next space CH2, join to first DC.

Row 6  Chain 1 DC in all DC and 2DC in all chain 2 spaces, 2DC CH1 2DC in both front & back centers
Row 7-8 CH1.. DC in all, 2DC CH1 2DC in both front & back centers

Row 9: Chain 1, DC in same space as join, DC, chain 2, skip 2, repeat to front chain 2 space, 2DC chain 1 2DC in chain space, CH2, skip 2, DC in next two to back chain space, 2DC chain 2DC in chain space, DC, CH2 to the  first dc, join with sl

Row 10: repeat row 5

Row 11 repeat row 6

Row 12-13 repeat row 7

Repeat rows 9-13 until desired length end on a row 9 repeat

Border
Row 1 In  White  with RS facing you join in any chain space, SC in all DC,  In the center front and back chain 1 spaces SC CH SC. Join with slst to front loop only.
Row 2 working in front loop only crab stitch in each SC and in each chain 1 spaces. Join and fasten off.
Row 3 working in back loop of row 1 with Passion DC in each SC and in CH1 spaces DC CH1 DC join with slst fasten off

This is optional and that sis why I did it last as an add on. I think this poncho looks great without it as well.
Neck

Row 1 With wrong side facing you with J hook  join with white at neck line. DC in each,
Row 2-20 ch 1 FPDC in same stitch, BPDC, alternate FPDC & BPDC around. Join with slst into first FPDC
