99 Granny Squares to Crochet from Leisure Arts

I love making granny squares. They make a perfect carry along project and they are so versatile. Sometimes, I just make it up as I go along but other times I like to find several that kind of go together to make a lovely scrap blanket.

If you are looking for some inspiring squares for your next project I have a great book to tell you about. 99 Granny Squares to Crochet from Leisure Arts. As the title suggests you will find it crammed with 99 granny squares that range from very basic and quaint to unique and challenging. They also have a range of shapes, even some triangles!

All of the patterns are written out in a way that is easy to understand and there are clear instructions for any special stitches you will be using. The possibilities really are endless as you can make a project using many of your favorites, or a bunch that you think compliant each other. You can even just get random and make a project using them all!

Another thing I like to do is take the basic square, flip through the book and look for funky textures and use those patterns to enlarge the square so that you have one giant square blanket with a different texture in each round.  The possibilities are endless.

Blankets, purses, and even clothes… What would you make with granny squares?

Take some time to browse Leisure Arts' great selection and make sure you also connect with Leisure Arts on Facebook and Twitter so that you never miss a special or new pattern! Also, if you sign up for their knitting or crochet newsletters, you get a free pattern on Fridays!

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.

  1. I love Granny Squares! It reminds of the late 60's when you saw them everywhere! I remember a very iconic picture of Paul McCartney wearing a Granny Square vest, Bring back the 1960's, I really am disillusioned with the 21st century!
