Caught Read-Handed by Terrie Farley Moran

What would be better than owning a bookstore? How about owning a bookstore with cafe? That sounds delicious on so may levels and it is the setting for the Read 'Em and Eat Mystery series. I just finished part two, Caught Read-Handed and am so excited to tell you about this awesome read, by Terrie Farley Moran.

From the back of the book:

Happy to help her fellow bibliophiles, Sassy visits the local library with book donations for their annual fundraising sale. Unfortunately, the welcoming readers’ haven is in turmoil as an argument erupts between a patron and a new volunteer, Tanya Lipscombe—also known as “Tanya Trouble.” She may lack people skills, but everyone is shocked when she’s later found murdered in her own hot tub.

The man last seen arguing with Tanya is soon arrested. But Alan Mersky, a veteran with PTSD, happens to be the brother of Sassy’s former boss—and he’s no murderer. Now it’s up to Sassy and Bridgy to clear Alan’s name and make sure the real killer gets booked.

My thoughts:

I was instantly drawn in by the characters, most especially Sassy and her spicy cook Miguel. While those two were my instant favorites, there were loads of interesting people populating this mystery. While they were both very different I really enjoyed the two main detectives, Ryan and Frank, and happen to think Frank could end up being a very interesting leading man.

The mystery was fun to ponder, especially as things were uncovered and there was many more reasonable suspects. The pace was perfect and things unfolded beautifully. In fact, I found myself staying up a bit later than usual so I could read a few more pages each night. There is even a recipe in the back for iced scones! I love scones.

You will want to make sure and grab this as well as the first part if you haven't already read it too.

Take some time to browse the other great mysteries available from Berkley Prime Crime. While you are there, you can sign up for the newsletter so you never miss a new release. I must warn you though, after browsing my wish list is longer than I could probably read. You can also connect with them on Twitter where you can happen across a fun giveaway as well.

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
