It's a Wonderful Knife (A Comfort Food Mystery #5) by Christine Wenger

Welcome back to the Silver Bullet Diner! You know that I recently read, and loved, Macaroni and Freeze, and today I am back to tell you about It's a Wonderful Knife (A Comfort Food Mystery #5) by Christine Wenger.

From the back of the book:

Comfort food and murder are on the holiday menu in the latest mystery from the national bestselling author of Macaroni and Freeze . . .

All Trixie Matkowski wants for Christmas is a break—just not the broken leg she got after slipping on some ice. With Sandy Harbor alive in the hustle and bustle of the season, it’s the busiest time of the year at Trixie’s Silver Bullet Diner. There are millions of things to do, including cater the town’s annual Christmas pageant and community dinner with some delicious holiday comfort food.

But the festivities turn into a bit of a turkey after Liz Fellows, the director of the pageant, is found with Trixie’s butcher knife in her back. Now Trixie must help the police arrest the scary gentleman—or lady—guilty of the crime if she hopes to get herself off the naughty list.

My thoughts:

This series has the most unique and awesome characters. I was so excited to see more ACB and Ty! I really adore them almost as much as Trixie. It is so easy to follow and fall in love with them all and the setting is a charming as it gets. I thought having Trixie on crutches this time added an extra element, making it even harder for her to be a sneaky sleuth.

The mystery was well plotted and paced, with several tense moments and few suspects that I was considering. I did figure it out and feel that there were enough clues peppered throughout that if you are paying attention and want to, you can as well. The wrap up was a real comfy tear jerker, especially since I feel such an attachment to everyone.

The back of the book has a load of recipes that sound delicious. If you didn't start this when I last recommend the series, you can start now, no need to catch up, jump right in, but be warned you will want to get all of the parts.

Take some time to browse the other great mysteries available from Berkley Prime Crime. While you are there, you can sign up for the newsletter so you never miss a new release. I must warn you though, after browsing my wish list is longer than I could probably read. You can also connect with them on Twitter where you can happen across a fun giveaway as well.

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
