Braking for Bodies (The Cycle Path Mysteries #2) by Duffy Brown

I always love when I find a new author and series. I was so impressed on so many levels by Braking for Bodies (The Cycle Path Mysteries #2) by Duffy Brown. I know I am going to follow this series closely. I am fairly certain all of my cozy readers will love it as well. This book has the feel that embodies everything cozy.

From the back of the book:

Evie Bloomfield puts the pedal to the metal—in the latest Cycle Path mystery from the national bestselling author of Geared for the Grave.

Moving from Los Angeles to small, picturesque Mackinac Island to work in a bike shop might seem crazy, but Evie knows it’s the best decision she’s ever made. That’s not to say she’s gotten rid of all her stress; after all, the upcoming Lilac Festival has everyone in town riding in circles.

But things really go downhill when a ferry full of tourists—including Evie’s friend Fiona’s former boss, the editor of a sleazy rag in LA—arrives on the island. No one knows why Peephole Perry came all the way to Mackinac, but things aren’t looking good for Fiona when Peep is found dead. Now Evie has to gear up and get a grip on the truth if she wants to clear her friend’s name.

My thoughts:

I'm not sure how I missed the first part to this series, but I was able to start here and keep up with no issues. There was so much going on here that I actually felt sorry for our trouble-plagued heroine. I just wanted to give her a warm cup of coffee and lace to hide from everything. Amid a plethora of bad luck issues, there was, of course, a mystery to solve.

I think it was brilliant how amid a mystery, I was laughing out loud. The style is so much fun and characters are perfectly quirky. I adored every little thing about them, the setting, the humor, and the mystery. A dash of this and that added up to a perfect read. I will find the first part because this was a true joy to read.

Take some time to browse the other great mysteries available from Berkley Prime Crime. While you are there, you can sign up for the newsletter so you never miss a new release. I must warn you though, after browsing my wish list is longer than I could probably read. You can also connect with them on Twitter where you can happen across a fun giveaway as well.

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.
