Caught Bread Handed: A Bakeshop Mystery (A Bakeshop Mystery #4) by Ellie Alexander

Time to revisit one of my favorite places, Torte! Caught Bread Handed: A Bakeshop Mystery (A Bakeshop Mystery #4) by Ellie Alexander is available in paperback on June 28. I've been loving the series, and telling you about it, since the very first part. I'll tell you again, you don't want to miss this series.

From the back of the book:

Welcome to Torte—a friendly, small-town family bake shop where the oven is heating up as high as the body count…

Jules Capshaw is still chewing over her husband Carlos’s return to Ashland, Oregon. Could there be too many cooks in the kitchen? Whatever is stirring between those two will have to wait. Despite the Oregon Shakespeare Festival being dark for the winter, the bakeshop is bustling, the dough is rolling, and there’s no rest for the weary…especially when murder is thrown into the mix.

When Mindy Nolan, the owner of a new restaurant in town, turns up dead, the batter at hand thickens. Jules knows that there was bad blood between Mindy and others in town, and tracking down the killer could prove to be an unwelcome treat. And to top it all off, there’s Carlos, who is pleading—with those delicious dark eyes and sexy Spanish accent—for Jules to take him back. Is home where the heart is or will she make a fresh start…and risk getting burned?

My thoughts:

I'm sure I have said this before, but I will again, the characters really make this something special. I adore Jules, and in this part her husband really started to grow on me. He's always been sexy, but I also have a weak spot for Thomas, so, but this time Carlos was spot on romantic. I still have a weak spot for Thomas. The triangle aside, mom and the professor, as well as the staff at Torte all had some growth in his part. They all feel like friends.

The setting was as quaint as always, which leads to the mystery. I was so wrapped up in Torte affairs, I didn't figure it out, but I still loved every second. The climax really had me so worried. I'm anxiously awaiting the next part, because Jules has so much on her plate, I have to know what she decides!

As before, I am giving this a total thumbs up, you really must read this part and go back and read the whole series. It's funny, charming, cozy, and has a wonderful amount of tension.

Also, make sure you check the back of the book! There are a lot of really awesome recipes there. I mean really awesome! Plus, there is a teaser for the next part.

You can keep up with this series on the website or on Facebook so you never miss a tasty release.
