Grace Sees Red (Manor House Mystery #7) by Julie Hyzy

You may recall this same time last year I introduced you to the sixth part in the Manor House Mystery series. Since then I have gone back and read all of the opening parts, and now I am thrilled to tell you the seventh part, Grace Sees Red (Manor House Mystery #7) by Julie Hyzy, is available!

From the back of the book:

The New York Times bestselling author of the Manor House Mysteries and the White House Chef Mysteries is back with another nail-biting murder mystery for curator Grace Wheaton.

Grace Wheaton, curator and manager of Marshfield Manor, and her benefactor, Bennett Marshfield, are discussing how to help her roommates Bruce and Scott with their wine shop troubles when Grace’s trusted—if testy—assistant, Frances, calls, saying she needs some assistance of her own. Arriving at the address Frances has given them, they find a coroner’s van and police cars parked outside an upscale assisted-living facility called Indwell.

One of the elderly residents has been found dead under suspicious circumstances, and Frances, seen arguing with the man earlier that day, is now a person of interest. It’s up to Grace to clear her assistant’s name and find the real killer—before another Indwell resident checks out early.

My thoughts:

I have really grown to love Grace, and Bennett, and even Frances. This part gave more insight in Frances and we got to the see a much more intimate side of her. Speaking of intimate I love the way the relationships with Grace and her roommates, and her neighbor, and someone else developed. Characters are the most important element to me and this series is filled with rich characters that are easy to love.

The mystery was an interesting one that I had half solved by the end. I loved the clues and I really love the moment of clarity that led to answers. It was very well paced and crafted. The assisted living facility was an interesting setting and very easy to visualize. I am really looking forward to the next part. If you haven't caught up, you can jump in right here without any issues.
