Much Ado About Muffin (Merry Muffin Mystery #4) by Victoria Hamilton

I was so happy to see Much Ado About Muffin (Merry Muffin Mystery #4) by Victoria Hamilton, in my reading stack, signalling another visit to Wynter Castle was in store for me. I'm sure you recall my prior review of this series and I hope you are all caught up and ready for this part!

From the back of the book:

In this fresh mystery from the national bestselling author of Death of an English Muffin, baker Merry Wynter comes to the aid of an innocent woman accused of murder.

When muffin baker Merry Wynter sees an innocent woman accused of murder, it’s dough or die...

Opera singer Roma Toscano may have a crippling case of stage fright, but she certainly is stirring up drama in Autumn Vale, New York, as she prepares for an upcoming performance at Merry’s Wynter Castle. With her flamboyant style and flirtatious personality, Roma attracts fans as well as critics, including the town’s postmistress—and Merry’s bitter foe—Minnie Urqhart.

But Roma and Minnie’s heated rivalry goes cold after Merry discovers Minnie dead at the post office. While every clue seems to be another ingredient in the investigation of Roma, Merry thinks the case is half-baked, and she’s eager to get her mitts on the real killer.

My thoughts:

I love the setting in this story. Castles hold a special place in my heart and I have a beautiful vivid image as I read. As I said before, I love Minnie and Virgil. This time there was some exploration of secondary characters that I really enjoyed. I thought it was neat how there were several thing going on in the backdrop. Roma was perfectly written for her part and totally got under my skin!

The murder scene was so different and dark, yet the tone of the rest of the book kept this feeling light and cozy. The mystery had a mellow pace and was solvable. I figured it out pretty early and enjoyed the conclusion. In the back of the book you will find recipes. I hope you take the time to catch up with this fun series and get ready to share the fun when we talk about the next part.
