Tyrrells Hand Cooked English Chips

As I have previously stated, I am an equal opportunity chip eater. I love chips of all kinds and do not discriminate. Despite having an English stepfather, I have never heard of 'English chips' and after stumbling upon Tyrrells I was intrigued. Aren't their chips just like ours? No! They are much more delicious (and called crisps!). After trying Tyrrells, I am going to have a sit down talk with Andrew and see what other delicious snacks he is keeping secret!

So what exactly is this Tyrrells that I speak of? They make chips, duh! Seriously, they make delicious chips. Their chips are made in Herefordshire, on their farm, Leominster. Talk about some fancy names! Using only the best, local potatoes, all natural ingredients, and a small batch cooking method, they produce some of the best chips I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Leaving the skin on and cutting the potatoes thick, they have a crunch unlike any other crisp out there. They also have the Big Spinny Thing which is essentially a big tumble drier used to expel the excess oil. No extra oil means even more crunch and no soft or soggy chips!

The first to flavors I want to talk about are Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar and Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper. Tyrrells take on the classic Salt & Vinegar chip is awesome! I am not sure if it is because they use cider vinegar or not, but they taste so much better. They are more mild and still let the potato shine without overwhelming you with vinegar. The Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper was awesome with some hummus. The more I try salt and pepper chips, the more I fall in love. They are so simple, yet so delicious. They add so much to your favorite dip and bring it to the next snack level. Who would have thought salt and pepper have that power?

So, I am going to be honest for a second: I have never tried Worcestershire sauce (also, that is very hard to spell.) When I saw the Worcestershire Sauce & Sundried Tomato flavor, I was intimidated and intrigued all the same. My result: they are awesome! I might have to pick up some Worcestershire sauce and see what all the buzz is about because these chips were amazing. Mature Cheddar & Chives was great as well. They kind of reminded me of sour cream and onion chips but more cheesy. I really liked crumbling these up over a salad. They added a great crunch and awesome cheese flavor. I don't think croutons will ever cut it again! Seriously, put some crumbled chips on your salad. You'll thank me!

As I am sure you can guess by now, the Sweet Chili & Red Pepper was my husbands favorite. He had these gone before I knew it! I was brave and tried a few. I am happy to report that they weren't overly spicy (though they get spicier the more you eat) and they have a wonderful pepper flavor that was pretty good. A handful was about all my poor little mouth could handle at one time, though. The Lightly Sea Salted chips were awesome as well. The simplicity of just salt really let the actual potato shine. You can really taste the difference in Tyrrells' potatoes compared to other national brands. They are so much better.

Alright, now I saved my personal favorite for last. I have been on a veggie chip kick and their Veg Chips were just outstanding! Made from beetroot, parsnip, carrots and just a little salt, these were a great, simple snack! They are so much more crunchy than some of the other veggie chips I have tried and that made them all the more better. Also, can we take a moment and appreciate all of the awesome pictures on their bags? I love the vintage photos and the humor in all of them. It is a really cute touch to an already awesome product!

You need Tyrrells chips in your life. I know you will be just as impressed (and addicted) as I am! Be sure to check out the Tyrrells website to learn all about them and have a good giggle! I love how humorous they are and I am sure you will have a laugh or two just like I did. Also, follow them on Facebook and Twitter so you never miss any news or promotions (they actually have a few really awesome ones going on right now!).
