Lily Chins Mosaic Magic from Leisure Arts

I don’t think it is a secret I love afghan patterns. I always have at least two afghans on my hooks. I am really drawn to patterns that looks a bit ‘more’ than all of the ones circulating in Facebook adventures. My favorite place to look for patterns and pattern books is Leisure Arts. My wish list of their pattern books has grown to epic proportions.

My latest treasure from Leisure Arts is Lily Chin’s Mosaic Magic. Oh my! Let me just tell you; If you are looking for a dramatic look that you won’t find everywhere then this is your pattern book! These look like they would be super complicated to make but the instructions are clear and easy to follow.

Each crochet project in this book starts with rows of simple single crochet stitches, working with one color on a row at a time. The interlocking color patterns come from dropping long double crochet stitches from the working row to another row below so you can easily create these complicated looks.

Did I mention that the book is packed with projects? There are 40 afghans, plus the 9 other projects including a shoal and hat, tea cozy and place mat, rug and pillow, women's vest and jacket, and men's pullover. Plus the pattern stitch multiples are given for each design so that you can also use the patterns to develop your own projects, which make this an invaluable resource for designers too.

I have a great love of the look of gingham so I know one the first patterns in this books I will start is the Gingham Checks. I also simply adore the cover pattern which is called Lattice, it has a very New Orleans style look to it will make a super gift for my sister who lives in that area.

This book will keep me in afghan patterns for more than a year!! You just can’t beat that for value. Please take some time to browse Leisure Arts' great selection and make sure you also connect with Leisure Arts on Facebook and Twitter so that you never miss a special or new pattern! Also, if you sign up for their knitting or crochet newsletters, you get a free pattern on Fridays!

Disclosure: I may receive products in exchange for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I personally believe will be good for my readers.

  3. Well, I see that afghans are not what they used to be. Some of these patterns are absolutely fantastic, they look really modern.
