Loot Crate - May 2016

It's that special geeky time of the month again where looters everywhere stalk their mailbox in anticipation. For any newcomers, or generally forgetful people, Loot Crate is quite possibly the most awesome subscription box out there. For only $13.95 a month, you can get one of these epic boxes for yourself. They also offer different boxes now, like Anime, Gaming and Pets. They even have apparel subscriptions and Limited Edition boxes! If you haven't checked out the Loot Crate website lately, you should. You won't be disappointed!

This month's theme is Power and it is all about some of our favorite strong characters! Before I get into the items, I just want to quickly mention that the included oven mitt has been recalled and will not be included in this review. That being said, the first item up is this Dragon Ball Z Shenron Plush Keychain from Surreal Entertainment. I know absolutely nothing about DBZ but my boyfriend had a little fit over this keychain; He loves it!

A Hulk Q-Fig from QMx is also included. This little figure is super detailed and super awesome. He is now hanging out with the rest of my figurines on my desk! The last item is a Warcraft t-shirt from Legendary. I don't play Warcraft but, nonetheless, I will definitely be seeing the movie, which looks awesome!

Loot Crate, as usual, was awesome this month! I know you are dying to have your own Loot Crates coming to your door so remember: All you have to do is sign up and for $13.95 you can have your very own. Sign up today though because boxes are limited and with stuff this epic, demand is high. You can also stay up to date with fun extras and specials by following Loot Crate on Facebook and Twitter.

Loot Crate - April 2016

It's that special geeky time of the month again where looters everywhere stalk their mailbox in anticipation. For any newcomers, or generally forgetful people, Loot Crate is quite possibly the most awesome subscription box out there. For only $13.95 a month, you can get one of these epic boxes for yourself. They also offer different boxes now, like Anime, Gaming and Pets. They even have apparel subscriptions and Limited Edition boxes! If you haven't checked out the Loot Crate website lately, you should. You won't be disappointed!

Alright guys, sorry my review is late this month but I had a little bit of a "Loot Scare". My poor crate got lost in the mail but, as you can see, it finally arrived safe and sound! This month the theme is Quest and there are some definite winners in here! First up is a pair of Harry Potter Socks from HYP Hosiery. My friend, who is a die-hard Harry Potter fan will love these! The second item is a D20 Ice Mold from Loot Crate Labs! The Magic fan in me LOVES this!

An Uncharted 4: A Thief's End poster from Sony was the third item and I passed it to my friend who promptly hung in it in room with all of his other gaming posters! A Vikings Drinking Horn from Chronicle Collectibles is the fourth item this month and it made my boyfriend very happy! He loves the show and anything Norse related so he definitely got a kick out of this. The Loot Pin this month was awesome as well!

The fifth, and best item in my opinion, is the Labyrinth T-Shirt from Ripple Junction. I knew from the released spoiler that there was a Labyrinth wearable in this crate so when my box was lost, I was legitimately sad. I love Labyrinth so much that I would have been happy with just this shirt alone! This movie holds such a special place in my heart and reminds me of being young and singing along with my mom, even when we were nowhere near a television. The shirt itself is wonderfully detailed and everytime I look at it, I find a new character or detail I hadn't noticed before!

Loot Crate - March 2016

It's that special geeky time of the month again where looters everywhere stalk their mailbox in anticipation. For any newcomers, or generally forgetful people, Loot Crate is quite possibly the most awesome subscription box out there. For only $13.95 a month, you can get one of these epic boxes for yourself. They also offer different boxes now, like Anime, Gaming and Pets. They even have apparel subscriptions and Limited Edition boxes! If you haven't checked out the Loot Crate website lately, you should. You won't be disappointed!

This month's theme is Versus. As always, the Loot Crate magazine was included as well as a super groovy pin. There was also a Harley Quinn comic book, which was a super fun read and an invitation to download Loot Crate's new app, Word Gush!

From Bioworld, there was a reversible Daredevil/Punisher beanie. This beanie is super awesome but, unfortunately, mine got commandeered by my boyfriend. Also taken by him, was a super awesome Batman VS Superman Mighty Wallet by Dynomighty. This was just in time for the movie premiere!

My personal favorite item this month was an Alien VS Predator 4.5 inch vinyl figure. It was in blind-bag fashion and I am so glad that I received the Alien! How cute...I mean, terrifying...is he?! The last item was the monthly t-shirt and this month it was a Mirror, Mirror movie poster shirt. As you probably know, I am a tried and true Star Wars girl, so this will get passed to my Trekkie mother.

Loot Crate - February 2016

It's that special geeky time of the month again where looters everywhere stalk their mailbox in anticipation. For any newcomers, or generally forgetful people, Loot Crate is quite possibly the most awesome subscription box out there. For only $13.95 a month, you can get one of these epic boxes for yourself. They also offer different boxes now, like Anime, Gaming and Pets. They even have apparel subscriptions and Limited Edition boxes! If you haven't checked out the Loot Crate website lately, you should. You won't be disappointed!

This month the theme is "Dead" and I am SO excited! The first two goodies are from The Walking Dead, one of my favorite shows. From A Crowded Coop, there is some soap-on-a-rope. This isn't just any soap-on-a-rope though, this is ear soap on a bloody rope! How awesome is that?! From McFarlane Toys there is also a construction figure. Out of the three options, I got the zombie and he is super detailed, awesome, and kind of cute...in a creepy, I'll eat your face off kind of way.

Up next, from Quantum Mechanix, there is a Deadpool  Q-Fig Figure. Out of the two options, I got the X-Force variant and it is so cool! This figure is very detailed, which you can really see if you shine a light through the back of the translucent base. He now has a comfy home on my desk right by my Vault Boy Bobblehead.

The other Deadpool item is a super awesome t-shirt from Fifth Sun. Tacos, guns, katanas, and Deadpool; what's not to love? The very last item in the Loot Crate this month is the pin, which now unlocks special goodies each month!

Loot Crate - January 2016

It's that special geeky time of the month again where looters everywhere stalk their mailbox in anticipation. For any newcomers, or generally forgetful people, Loot Crate is quite possibly the most awesome subscription box out there. For only $13.95 a month, you can get one of these epic boxes for yourself. They also offer different boxes now, like Anime, Gaming and Pets. They even have apparel subscriptions and Limited Edition boxes! If you haven't checked out the Loot Crate website lately, you should. You won't be disappointed!

Before I get into the loot, I want to mention that this month they announced that every box from now on will have a shirt and I am so excited! The theme this month is Invasion and I am also very excited about that too! To start out, we had some great throwback loot. Up first is an awesome ALIEN Facehugger Plush. This is definitely cuter and more cuddly than it's predecessor. There is also some awesome Mini Art Prints from the classics The Day The Earth Stood Still and The War Of The Worlds.

A prop replica Multi Pass is also included. I loved The Fifth Element as a kid (I still love it) and I am so excited this was included! Who doesn't love Leeloo? Another childhood love of mine was Space Invaders. The two-dimensional game is now three-dimensional with this awesome vinyl figure. It comes in three color varieties and I got the orange/clear one.

The last two items are just in time for the X-Files' return! The first item is a super bright LED flashlight! We all know that searching for aliens, monsters, and ghouls takes you into some creepy places and, of course, most creepy places also happen to be dark. The last item is an exclusive shirt from Threadless. Featuring some of my favorite agents, this shirt also has aliens, UFOs, and a bright green color! What more could you ask for?

Loot Crate, as usual, was awesome this month! I know you are dying to have your own Loot Crates coming to your door so remember: All you have to do is sign up and for $13.95 you can have your very own. Sign up today though because boxes are limited and with stuff this epic, demand is high. You can also stay up to date with fun extras and specials by following Loot Crate on Facebook and Twitter.

Loot Crate - December 2015

It's that special geeky time of the month again where looters everywhere stalk their mailbox in anticipation. For any newcomers, or generally forgetful people, Loot Crate is quite possibly the most awesome subscription box out there. For only $13.95 a month, you can get one of these epic boxes for yourself. This month's theme is Galaxy and man, oh man! Some of the loot included is just too awesome. Loot Crate just keeps outdoing themselves each month!

You know I have to start with the Star Wars loot first! The Han Solo vinyl bobblehead by Funko and the pair of BB-8 crew socks are both Loot Crate exclusives and are totally awesome. It's no secret that I love Star Wars and I was so excited to see these items included right in time for the new release!

There was also a Galaxy Quest authentic prop replica patch by Quantum Mechanix and a a super cool space-themed ugly holiday sweater t-shirt by Loot Crate Labs. Both of these are so cool! I have always loved space and this whole box is just right up my alley! There isn't a single item I didn't love!

Halo; one of my favorite games, by far. All of this month's loot came in this awesome ammo tin box by A Crowded Coop. Stuck down in there was also a Supply Req Pack for Halo 5! I can't wait to stuff this bad boy full of goodies and see what was in my Supply Pack!

Smart Art Box

I have reviewed a lot of subscription boxes so it takes a lot to really "wow" me. I recently got the chance to try out the Smart Art Box and I am really, really impressed with it! This box is truly in a class of it's own! For $49.95, you get a new artistic medium sent straight to your door every month. Included in the price, are shipping and everything you need to fully manipulate the medium. You also get a pamphlet with some history on the medium and a step-by-step guide for a project.

This month the medium was acrylic paint. In the box, we got a Creative Inspirations 6 piece acrylic paint set (120ml bottles; very generous), a 3 piece Simply Simmons Oil and Acrylic brush set and wallet, a 4oz Mona Lisa Pink Soap, a Creative Mark All Edge Media Cotton Canvas (8"x10"), and a 10-well plastic palette. These are all wonderful quality supplies and would easily cost over the subscription cost if bought separately.

My boyfriend is the artist in the family so he was super excited to get a chance to play with a new medium. Usually, he works with pens, pencils, and charcoals so paint was new for him. He really enjoyed playing with the different brush strokes and colors. He followed the step-by-step guide easily and created this beautiful painting!

If you are an artist, or have an artist close to you, I think a Smart Art Box subscription would be a great gift! Playing with a new medium every month is fun, educational, and inspirational. Visit the Smart Art Box wesbite to learn more! Also, be sure to follow them on Facebook and Twitter to never miss any news!

Loot Crate - November 2015

It's that special geeky time of the month again where looters everywhere stalk their mailbox in anticipation. For any newcomers, or generally forgetful people, Loot Crate is quite possibly the most awesome subscription box out there. For only $13.95 a month, you can get one of these epic boxes for yourself. This month's theme is Combat and I am so excited for some of this loot!!

First up, there was a Hunger Games Mockingjay Pin from Loot Crate Labs. I haven't watched or read The Hunger Games, so I passed this on to a friend and she loved it! There was also an Exclusive Street Fighter Hyper Looting Comic from Capcom which was pretty cool. They also included some little gift tags which I thought was really cute as well.

My kids, especially my son, absolutely love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so when I saw the Shredder Sunglasses from H2W, I knew I had a winner. You can totally tell from my son's face that he was super excited to play as his favorite bad guy. He wears them all the time, despite them being a little too big for his small head!

The next items were super exciting: A Cute But Deadly Vinyl Mystery Figure and a magnet set from Blizzard Entertainment! Of course, since I am a huge Diablo fan, I was hoping for Diablo, but I got Zeratul who is quite cute and reminds me of Predator. I have never played StarCraft, so I also passed this along, but I now have an awesome looking fridge!

The last item included was my favorite, by far. I would have been happy with just this item! It was a Loot Crate Exclusive Fallout 4 Vault Boy bobble head from Bethesda. I cannot even begin to describe how excited I am about this! Fallout is easily one of my favorite game series' and I was so happy to see some loot included right in time for the new release!

Loot Crate - October 2015

It's that special geeky time of the month again where looters everywhere stalk their mailbox in anticipation. For any newcomers, or generally forgetful people, Loot Crate is quite possibly the most awesome subscription box out there. For only $13.95 a month, you can get one of these epic boxes for yourself. This month's theme is Time!

The first item I pulled out of this month's box was a Loot Crate Exclusive Doctor Who Sonic Spork by 50/Fifty. Now, as I have mentioned in previous Loot Crate reviews, I have yet to start watching Doctor Who since I am emotionally tied up in a few other shows, but I will be starting soon, hopefully! For now, I have a friend who thought this was the coolest thing ever and absolutely loved it!

Our next two items are Back to the Future themed. The first is a Hover Board Replica by Quantum Mechanix. October 21st, 2015 has come and gone and this makes me especially sad since Hover Boards are not a part of day to day life yet! Though, for someone as clumsy as myself, that might be a good thing!

The other Back to the Future themed item is a Dr. Emmett Brown POP! Vinyl Figure by Funko. This little guy is just too cute! I am sure most of us remember the clock tower scene that this piece was inspired by. He now has a safe place on my desk where he helps me daydream of DeLoreans and self-tying shoes!

The last item included was a Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure T-Shirt by Loot Crate Labs. This shirt is awesome! The fit is great and it is really soft as well! I have gotten quite a few compliments on it already and I love that it reminds us to be awesome to each other. Most of us can use that reminder some days!

BoxyCharm - October 2015

It is that wonderful time of the month again where my BoxyCharm box arrives and I get to try out all sorts of awesome, new products! Just in case you forgot, BoxyCharm is a monthly subscription box that sends out full-size and luxury-size samples of high end and on-trend brands. Best part? A BoxyCharm box has a low cost of only $21, plus free shipping! This month the theme is Faces of the Moon and can we just take a moment to appreciate how sleek all of these products look in this box? It's totally an October box!

The first item I pulled out of this month's box is the Palmetto Derma Rejuvenating Antioxidant Mask ($64). This is a clay mask chock full of antioxidants to draw impurities out of your skin. It has a tingly, cooling effect which I really like and I love the way my skin feels afterwards. Also, as a bonus, this is vegan, cruelty-free, and does not contain phthalates or parabens! This mask is all win!

Up next is a Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara ($24). First, I love the packaging; it is sleek and edgy. The brush on this wand is quite large and can be a little intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, this mascara is totally awesome! This gives you super thick, volumized lashes and I even noticed some extra length! I have quickly fallen in love with this and can see this being a permanent in my collection for quite some time!

A Cult Cosmetics Nail Polish in the color Boneyards ($12) was the next item I pulled out. This color is just great and totally up my alley. This dark grey polish has no shimmer and is simply stunning! It is also vegan friendly, ethically made, 5-free, and applies in one coat! I also peeked over at the rest of their collection and oh my goodness! You have to check it out; their other shades are GORGEOUS!

Keeping right up with the dark theme, a Lord & Berry Line/Shade Eyeliner ($18) is up next. This is a dark, rich black that is waterproof and glides on like a dream. I was actually really impressed with the staying power and how smudge-resistant this was after it sets. I have tried so many eyeliners and I have my go-to liners but this might sneak it's way into my top choices!

The last product included was a Bellapierre Cheek and Lip Stain in the color Coral ($19.99). This is a little bit of color in this box and look how pretty it is! Corals are my go-to for both lips and cheeks so I was pretty excited to try this. I love the little bit of gold shimmer that this has. It reflects the light so beautifully. Though you can build this color up for a more opaque lip, I prefer the way this wore on my cheeks. It sheers out beautifully and gives you a natural-looking glow.

As always, I loved my BoxyCharm box! With a retail value of $137.99,0 $21 is an amazing cost to pay!! It is a great value and awesome way to try out new beauty products. Be sure to head over to their site to sign up and see past boxes. Also, follow BoxyCharm on FacebookInstagram and Twitter to never miss any news or promotions!

Starlooks LooksBook - September 2015

Before we hop into the review for September's Looksbook, I quickly want to share with you the items that I purchased using my gift cards from my last Starbox and Looksbook. I had a gift card to the Starlooks website and I noticed that they were selling previous Starboxes! I grabbed one from January 2015 which included a lipstick in Marsala, an eyeliner in Chestnut, an Eye Contour brush, and some Malibu Soapworks Young Coconut Brush Wash.

I had two gift cards to Torrain which is a company that uses recycled feed and cement bags to make wallets and bags. This is a great company and I really recommend that you learn more about them! You will be inspired, I promise! From them, I picked up a Snap Wallet in the color scheme Leaf Green and a 6 Bottle Wine Tote in the scheme Sunset Pink. Their patterns are always changing so be sure to check back frequently!

The last two gift cards I had were to The Laboratory. This website has a very eclectic feel and I think almost everyone could find a couple of pieces that they just have to have! I picked the Stitched and Beaded Babydoll Dress, the Leaf Me Alone Dainty Necklace, and a Sssssnake Ear Cuff in Silver. Everything I got feels really well made and I can't wait to wear all of them! I love the variety on this website!

Now on to the September 2015 LooksBook:

You know how much I loved the Starlooks' Custom Starbox subscription, but they launched their LooksBook Membership which is just as awesome, if not better! This membership includes 3 "Perfect Size" cosmetics (about 3/4 the size of full size products) but they are chosen around a theme to create an on trend look. All of this for only $12 and free shipping! Each month, your products come packed in a travel-friendly "book" that even includes tips on how to wear and apply the products. The theme this month was Revival.

Just like last month, the packaging is out of this world. The colors are gorgeous and the "book" feels nice and sturdy. I can't say enough good things about the packaging. You can really tell that they put a lot of thought and effort into this subscription. The first item I went for was the lipstick in the color RAWR! This is a matte, bright pink that is absolutely stunning! I did apply it over a little bit of lip balm because my lips are always chapped, but on my wrist, it is over nothing.

There was an eyeshadow duo in the color Agave. The first color is a dusty, rosy pink and the second is a little harder to describe. It is a tan/beige with a slightly green/gold feel. They are both really pretty and apply and blend nicely. The last product included was a little bit of a dud for me. The mascara in the color Flora is a beautiful teal color. Unfortunately, on my naturally darker lashes, the color didn't show up well. I am going to play more with this and see if I can't get the color to show up better.

Overall, I really liked this month's LooksBook Membership. I like that you get a full look instead of random products that don't go together. The "book" itself is beautiful and great for travel. $12 for this membership is a total steal! Starlooks always has the best deals on subscription services! Be sure to check out everything that Starlooks offers and follow them on Facebook and Twitter to never miss any news!
